Choquequirao Trek – 4 Day

On this adventure trek you will enjoy spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, descend into a deep canyon, cross the Apurimac River, and pass through biologically diverse cloud forest ecosystems. After a visit to the citadel of Choquequirao, you return along the same route, back to your hotel in Cusco. This is our most challenging trek to Choquequirao. It moves at a steady pace through the Andes and is recommended only for the most fit. It is designed for those who have limited time for a Choquequirao trek.

In Cachora we meet our staff and drive 30 more minutes to the Capuliyoc lookout point and our trailhead. Our path continues downhill for about 6 hours to our campsite at Playa Rosalina beside the Apurimac River. This is one of the longest rivers in Peru, over 7000 km, coming from the very south of Peru all the way north to Iquitos where it joins with Amazon River. Apurimac is a Quechua word for “the God who speaks”. We can expect a warm night in the valley.
