Machu Picchu & Sacred Valley – 2 Days

This tour combines our Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu Tours. The Sacred Valley has a milder climate than Cusco, and, on your first day, you will see a succession of picturesque villages, agricultural terraces, and many archaeological sites. You will visit the impressive Pisac Ruins, the colorful Pisac market which is a great place to pick up souvenirs, and the Ollantaytambo archeological site. From there you will take the train to Aguas Calientes – the launching point for any Machu Picchu tour. After spending a night in Aguas Calientes, you will wake early to catch one of the first buses to Machu Picchu so you can enjoy time at the site while it is still quiet and mystical. After a tour of this famous city, you can climb Huayna Picchu (this requires a separate ticket which must be purchased well in advance), visit the Inca Bridge, hike to the famous Sun Gate, or simply wander the ruins on your own.

The citadel of Machu Picchu, at 2,430 meters above sea level, stands in the midst of towering mountains and the lush vegetation of a cloud forest. The majestic beauty of the natural landscape surrounding this sanctuary as well as the archaeological value of the ruins itself make it a UNESCO World Heritage site recognized the world over.

Itinerary – Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu – 2 Days

DAY 1: Pisac – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

We will pick you up from your hotel in our private transport and drive through the mountains to the “Sacred Valley of the Incas” – which held great significance in Inca Culture. We will stop at Awanacancha – an alpaca weaving center – before continuing to Pisac’s extensive ruins and lively market. We will have lunch in Urubamba before visiting a ceramics factory where we can purchase beautiful, traditional earthenware. We then continue to Ollantaytambo and the fortress which keeps watch over the city. We have time to stroll the picturesque streets of this magical and original Inca city before taking the scenic train to Aguas Calientes.

DAY 2: Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

After a good sleep in a hotel, your guide will walk you to the bus station for a 30-minute trip to one of the seven wonders of the world – Machu Picchu. On an informative 3-hour tour you will learn the history of this Lost City of the Incas. The city was the last refuge of the Incas, and it was never found by the Spanish. The views of the mountains and dramatic cliffs will take your breath away. Late in the afternoon you will take your train back to Ollantaytambo, and then we will drive you back to your hotel in Cusco.
