Not sure what trek you want? Here’s an overview of each trek to help narrow your choices.

Choquequirao – 4 to 6 Days

Choquequirao was ranked #1 in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2017, so our secret site is no longer a secret! But the newly developed and very remote ruins of Choquequirao still give you a chance to explore a major Incan archeological site without the crowds at other Peruvian sites. And if you have an extra day, we have a volunteer option available on these treks at no extra cost.

The trek to Choquequirao takes you through beautiful mountains, across the Apurimac River, through steep agricultural land and finally to Juan’s ancestral home of Marampata. From there you will explore the ancient city of Choquequirao. If your time is limited, you can visit Choquequirao and return on the same trail. Based on your time and fitness level you can choose a 4, 5 or 6-day version, but 5 or 6 days is recommended so you can fully enjoy the archeological site, including time to explore the unique stone llamas and unexcavated ruins hidden in the jungle.

Choquequirao to Machu Picchu – 8 to 10 Days

If you have more time, we highly recommend continuing the trek past Choquequirao, through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Peruvian Andes. This trek has an identical start to the Choquequirao trek, but from Choquequirao you will continue on through spectacular mountains, high passes and river crossings as you work your way towards the ancient city of Machu Picchu. After a coffee tour with a local family and hiking through the Andean cloud forest with views of Machu Picchu, you will take a train the final miles to Aguas Calientes. A tour of Machu Picchu the following day will cap your trip, and you will then return to Cusco. There is an 8, 9 and 10-day version depending on how aggressively or relaxed you want to make the trek. We recommend the 9- or 10-day treks so you have ample time to enjoy Choquequirao.

Salkantay – 1 or 4 or 5 Days

The Salkantay trek takes you through the stunning Vilcabamba Mountain Range with its rugged, snow-capped peaks. Salkantay was named one of the top 20 hikes in the world by National Geographic magazine, and when you complete this trek I’m sure you will agree. After a rugged trek, you will enjoy a coffee tour before heading to Machu Picchu to complete the journey. There is a 4 and 5-day version of this trek. The 5-day adds a hike to the spectacular Humantay Lake at the start of the trek. If you only have time for a day trip from Cusco, a 1 day trek to Humantay Lake is awesome.

Lares – 3 or 4 Days

We offer two different treks in the mountains surrounding the Lares Valley. One is a 4-day tour through Quechua communities, farms, and llama and alpaca herds, where the local people still wear the traditional Quechua costumes. You will have a chance to soak in natural hot springs on this hike. The second Lares trek is a 3-day tour which focuses on cultural interactions and combines a one-day trek with an overnight homestay with Quechua families in the community of Willoq Alto. During your stay you will learn about their traditional dyeing and weaving techniques. Both treks end with a tour of Machu Picchu.

Inca Trail to Machu Picchu – 2 or 4 Days

This is the classic Peruvian Andes trek. You will walk along ancient Incan trails, visit numerous small ruins that can only be reached on foot, enjoy breathtaking views and enter Machu Picchu through the famous Sun Gate before exploring the most famous Incan ruins in the world. A hike up Huayna Picchu is an optional add on. The classic trek takes 4 days, but for those short on time there is a short Inca Trail trek plus Machu Picchu tour that only takes 2 days.

Huchuy Qusqo – 3 Days

Starting just 20 minutes from the city of Cusco, this is a perfect trek for those with limited time. You will pass through mountains, farmlands, and Inca sites. You will also have an opportunity to visit a local family and learn more about Andean life. On the second day of the trek you will arrive at Huchuy Qusqo – Little Cusco – perched above the sacred valley. This is a 2-day trek plus a third day at the end to visit Machu Picchu.

On this exciting Andean multi-sport adventure, raft Peru’s wild Apurimac River through one of the deepest and least explored canyons in the world and the uppermost source of the Amazon River. Experience the Apurimac’s splashy thrills as you head downstream through a distinctive narrow canyon sculpted over the millennia into smooth, overhanging walls. Follow in the footsteps of the ancient Incas, exploring remote communities and off-the-radar treks of the Sacred Valley by mountain bike and on foot, and wrap up the journey with the scenic train ride to legendary Machu Picchu.
